No. 9 Football Hosts UW-Stout

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Ninth-ranked Wartburg (2-0 overall) hosts UW-Stout (1-1) Saturday at 7 p.m. This marks the ninth night game in Walston-Hoover's 13-year history.

The Series
These two programs have never previously met.
 
Last Time Out
Then-No. 15 Wartburg upset then-No. 7 Bethel, 31-14, last week to move to 2-0.

This marked the third upset win over a Top 25 ranked opponent in program history as the previous two occurred against Coe on Oct. 21, 2006 (Wartburg won 10-7 as Coe was No. 24) and Oct. 16, 2010 (Wartburg won 31-21 as Coe was No. 6).

The Knights also extended their streak of remaining undefeated in home openers in the Walston-Hoover Stadium era, since 2001.
Junior quarterback Logan Schrader (Killdeer, Ill.) finished the day 22-34 with 388 yards through the air, just 19-yards shy of his career mark. He also added 49 yards on the ground.

Senior Taylor Jacobsmeier (Wapello) was the team's leading receiver as he had 160 yards on 11 catches which marked new career-bests.

Juniors Gunner Tranel (Vinton) and Andrew Janssen (Mediapolis) each had a team-best seven total tackles on the day. Tranel had a career day with six solo tackles.
 
A Look at the Teams
Wartburg
Junior Brandon Domeyer (Manchester) is the team's leading rusher as he has 91 yards on 28 carries and has three touchdowns.

Schrader has thrown for 603 yards and is 36-52 with three touchdown passes. Jacobsmeier is the team's top receiver as he has 13 catches for 217 yards and one touchdown.

Tranel and senior Drew Kooi (Minooka, Ill.) lead the defense with 12 total tackles as each has eight solo and four assists.
 
UW-Stout
UW-Stout defeated Loras, 21-17, in its home opener last Saturday.

The Blue Devils tallied 250 total yards, 173 by passing, 77 by rushing. Making his first collegiate start, Aaron Koerner completed 16-of-31 passes for all 173 yards. He was intercepted twice. Aaron Jenny finished with eight catches for 107 yards. Cody Rosemeyer had seven catches for 58 yards. Adolfo Pacheco carried the ball 35 times for 118 yards.

Pacheco has now rushed for 175 yards on 57 carries and one touchdown on the young season.

Koerner is 17-34 with four interceptions and has thrown for 188 yards and three touchdowns while Rosemeyer has made 12 catches for 150 yards.
Luke Bakkum leads the defense with his 19 tackles (15 solo and four assists).

Career Leader Lists
Schrader now ranks eighth on the all-time career leader list in pass completions (299) and ninth in passing yards (3,851) and passing TDs (27).

Senior Donald Miller (Maywood, Ill.) is tied for tenth in pass reception TDs (11) while junior Michael Bohlke (Manchester) is eighth in field goals made (11).

Senior Spencer Capitani (Northwood) is tied for tenth in punt returns (44) and is tied for ninth in pass breakups (16).
