Wartburg to Host Central for Weekend Series

Wartburg (14-1 overall, 4-0 IIAC) hosts Central (4-6, 0-0) for a two-day doubleheader with games starting at 2 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.



The Series
Wartburg leads the all-time series 55-36 and has won six of the last nine games against the Dutch.

The Knights are coming off a four-game sweep of Coe last weekend and have won 14 straight games since opening the season with a loss to Mount Union. It's the program's first winning streak to reach at least a dozen games since the 2013 team won 12 in a row.

Junior Ryan Kemp (Keokuk) is hitting .441 and leads the team in hits with 26. Senior Blake Wilson (Bettendorf) leads the team in slugging percentage (.778) and home runs (five). On the mound, sophomore Michael Knouse (Keokuk) and junior Shane Chafa (Johnston) each have three wins.

Central
Kirby Coppess is batting .400 with 16 hits and 10 RBIs. Andy Carr has pitched 16.2 innings with a record of 2-0 and a 2.70 ERA.
