Baseball to Face Buena Vista on the Road

Wartburg (19-2 overall, 9-1 IIAC) travels to Buena Vista (14-3, 4-2) Friday at 3:30 p.m. in a doubleheader. The teams will play a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning game. The second doubleheader in the series will be played Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m.

Wartburg leads the all-time series 55-34. The Knights have also won 6 of the last 8.

Sophomore Jake Thumann (DeWitt) leads the Knights with a .390 average. Senior DJ Utley (Cedar Rapids), senior Blake Wilson (Bettendorf), junior Ryan Kemp (Keokuk), juniors Milton Croes (Noord, Aruba), and Tyler Willis (Waverly) join him above .300 at .380, .368, .367, .333 and .317.

Utley is second in the nation in total home runs with 8. The Knights are 1st in the nation in this category as a team.

Sophomore Michael Knouse (Davenport) is 4-0 on the hill and leads the starting pitching staff with a 2.03 ERA. Classmate Taylor Gilson (Oelwein) leads the bullpen with a 0.42 ERA and is 2-0 in 21.2 innings pitched.

Buena Vista
The Beavers are led in hitting by Tanner Truesdell with a .426 average. Eric Gurbacki, Devin Wagenman, Brandon Wessels, and Neil Marchall all bat over .300 at .393, .333, .333, and .324 respectively.
