CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- Junior Ryan Kemp (Keokuk) had the game-winning hit, a solo homerun in the bottom of the eighth as No. 12 Wartburg (31-10 overall) defeated Luther 7-6 Thursday.
The Knights will face second-seed Coe at 1 p.m. on Friday.
The Orange and Black took the early 2-0 lead in the second on a sacrifice fly from senior Blake Wilson (Bettendorf) and a single from sophomore Ty Mougin (Walford). Wartburg added one in the third on a single from Kemp and increased its margin to 6-0 on a three-run homer by senior DJ Utley (Cedar Rapids).
The Norse tallied five runs in the seventh before they tied the score in the eighth.
Kemp then had the go-ahead hit in the Knights' next at-bats.
Junior Tyler Willis (Waverly), Kemp, Utley, sophomore Jake Thumann (DeWitt) all went 2-4 on the night.
