No. 24 Wartburg Hosts St. Olaf

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 24 Wartburg baseball team (5-3 overall) hosts St. Olaf this weekend in its home opener. This will also be the season opener for the Oles.

The teams will play a varsity/JV doubleheader on both days. Friday's varsity game will start at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Series
The all-time series is tied at 11-11, but the Knights have claimed the last five games, including both doubleheaders last season.

Wartburg
Senior Robbie Anstoetter (Farley) leads the team with his .400 average. Senior Milton Croes (Noord, Aruba) has a team-best four RBIs, and junior Jake Thumann (DeWitt) has a team-high two homeruns.

Junior Max Langheinrich (Minnetonka, Minn.) was named the Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week Monday for his efforts over the team's spring break trip. He leads the starting pitching staff with a 1.12 ERA and is 2-0 on the mound with 16 strikeouts.

Of note, junior Taylor Gilson (Oelwein) set the single-game school record with 15 strikeouts against Cornell on March 4.

St. Olaf
The Oles were picked to finish sixth in the 11-team MIAC preseason coaches poll. Head Coach Matt McDonald enters the year with 500 career wins.
