Box ScoreWINTER HAVEN, Fla.-- Sophomore Blake Mahoney (Des Moines) hit a walk-off single to drive in sophomore David Fitzgerald (Dubuque) in the 4-3 win over Alma Wednesday. The Knights improved to 2-1 on the season and the Scots are now 1-2.
Alma plated a run in the first and two in the third to take the early 3-0 lead. The Orange and Black got on the board with two runs in the sixth on an RBI triple from junior Jake Thumann (DeWitt) who then scored on junior Mike Brown's (Bettendorf) ground out.
In the bottom of the ninth, Brown hit a leadoff double and then pinch runner freshman Robert Primrose (Adel) scored on Fitzgerald's RBI single to tie the score at 3-3.
Junior Max Langheinrich (Minnetonka, Minn.) pitched the complete game and tied the single game school record with 13 Ks.
