AUBURNDALE, Fla.-- The No. 20 Wartburg baseball team defeated Cornell 2-1 on a walkoff balk Saturday. Sophomore Blake Mahoney (Des Moines) scored the game-winner as he reached on an error in the bottom of the ninth, was sacrificed to second by senior Robbie Anstoetter (Farley), moved to third on a wild pitch and then scored the walk-off on a balk call.

The Rams were the first team on the board with their solo shot in the second.

The Knights tied it in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single from junior Sam Van Fleet (St. Paul).

Junior Taylor Gilson (Oelwein) set the school record with his 15 strikeouts, which broke the old mark of 13 which had occurred five times in program history.

The Orange and Black return to the field tomorrow in a doubleheader against Mount Union.
