WAVERLY, Iowa-- In the final doubleheader of the conference series, Wartburg (16-6 overall, 9-1 IIAC) split with No. 18/20 Buena Vista (14-6, 5-3) as the visitors won the first game 6-2 to halt the Knights' winning streak at nine and the Orange and Black won the finale 5-1.

Each team plated two runs in the first inning and the score remained 2-2 until the sixth when BV plated two and scored two more on a two-run homer over the right field fence to win 6-2.
Junior Jake Thuman (DeWitt) led the team at the plate as he went 2-3.
The final game was scoreless until sophomore Clay Henning (Plymouth, Wis.) drove in senior Tyler Willis (Waverly) and sophomore Blake Mahoney (Des Moines) scored on classmate Zach Hovick's (Roland) ground out for the 2-0 lead.
The Orange and Black added to their margin in the seventh on a two-run double by Hovick who later scored on a BV's throwing error.
BV plated its lone run in the top of the ninth but was unable to compile a further rally.
Sophomore Tanner Eckhart (Monticello, Minn.) pitched the complete game to earn the win and Mahoney went 2-3 with two runs scored.
Wartburg is off from competition until Saturday when it travels to face Dubuque at 1 p.m.
