Baseball Series Against Nebraska Wesleyan Changed

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The weekend conference baseball series against Wartburg (16-9 overall, 7-2 IIAC) and Nebraska Wesleyan (11-17, 4-8) has been changed. The teams will play the nine-inning game Saturday at 10 a.m. and the doubleheader Monday at noon. Monday game time still tentative.

The Series
This marks the first meeting between the programs.

Nebraska Wesleyan
Cole Schumacher is the team's leading hitter at .362 and Kyle Hunter follows at .343. Brody Murphy leads the pitching staff with a 2.77 ERA and is 3-3 in 48.2 innings pitched.

Wartburg
Junior Blake Mahoney (Des Moines) has a team-best .402 batting average. Seven teammates join him above .300: junior Eric Willis (Waverly) at .376, senior Jacob Thumann (DeWitt) at .359, junior Cody Hyler (Des Moines) at .352, senior Austin Lechtenberg (DeWitt) at .344, junior David Fitzgerald (Dubuque) at .317, and senior Clay Henning (Plymouth, Wis.) at .313.

Mahoney leads the team with 27 RBIs.

Senior Taylor Gilson (Oelwein) leads the starting pitchers with a 3.11 ERA and is 5-1 in 55.0 innings pitched with 43 strikeouts.

Career Record Watch
Thumann needs three home runs to become the program's all-time leader in that category. Gilson has entered the top 10 list at No. 7 in strikeouts (173).
