WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg baseball team (14-8 overall, 5-3 IIAC) hosts Simpson (3-19, 2-9) Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Luther (16-7, 6-5) in a weekend series.

The Series
Wartburg owns the series lead at 89-50 against Simpson and have won the last 11-straight, which includes the doubleheader in Indianola last week. The Knights lead 84-59 against the Norse. Luther claimed the series last year as it won two of the three games.

Senior Zach Hovick (Roland) leads the team with his .313 average, three doubles, one triple, and 20 RBIs. Freshman JoJo McNair (Joliet, Ill.) joins him above .300 at .310.
and senior Eric Willis (Waverly) has a team-best 14 stolen bases and McNair follows with 13.
Senior Tanner Eckhart (Monticello, Minn.) leads the starting pitchers with a 1.02 ERA, is 4-1 with 44 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched.

Senior Blake Mahoney (Des Moines) is seventh in stolen bases (53). Classmate Clay Henning (Plymouth, Wis.) is fourth in assists (338).

Scott Meier leads the team with his .356 average and Trey Kehoe follows at .317.
Luther
The Norse have three guys over .300: Trent Athmann at .384, Derek McCready at .329, and Bryce Hingst at .316.
