Knights Host Simpson College

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg College Knights baseball team (8-23 overall, 5-13 A-R-C) will welcome in the Simpson College Storm (12-18, 4-14) for a three-game series beginning with a single game on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday. On Sunday, the Knights will recognize their senior class in between the two games.

The Series
Wartburg owns the all-time series at 92-50. The Orange and Black have won the previous nine meetings, dating back to April 27, 2015.

The Knights are entering Friday's game in the midst of a three-game skid coming at the hands of Buena Vista University last weekend. Leading the team in batting is junior Tyler Hovick (Roland) with a .341 average (min. 50 at bats). Following Hovick is junior Tyler Nunemaker (Ely) with a .279 and sophomore JoJo McNair (Joliet) with a .276. Hovick and sophomore Parker Ridge (Marion) share the team lead in RBIs with 14, followed by junior Manny Jeffery (Marion) with 13. McNair leads the team in stolen bases, recording 17 on 18 attempts.
 
Sophomore Darren Kilpatrick (Fairfax) leads all starting pitchers with a 4.73 ERA in 45.2 innings of work. Junior Ben Milewski (Lake Villa) is second in the group with a 5.05 ERA. Sophomore Dylan Gotto (Peosta) leads the team in strikeouts with 55, followed by Milewski with 45.
 
Career Record Watch
McNair's career 39 stolen bases sit 10th in program history. He trails ninth by four (43), seventh by 15 (54) and sixth by 18.
 
Simpson
The Storm are led in batting by Truman Schmitt with a .375 average in 112 at bats. Trailing Schmitt in batting is Devin Creger with a .319 average and Nathan Carlin with a .316. Carlin and Schmitt share the team lead in RBIs with 22, followed by Kolton Arnold with 19. Schmitt also leads the team in home runs with five, followed by Arnold with two.
 
Brady Held leads the team in ERA with a 3.12 and a 5-1 record, followed by Brett Kauzlarich with a 4.15 ERA and a record of 2-4. Held leads the squad in strikeouts with 60, followed by Tanner Jensen with 49. The Storm are coached by Nathan Roling. He is assisted by Ethan Westphal, Trent Dooley and Steve Carlson.
