LAST TIME OUT
Wartburg, who received votes in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Week 2 Poll, split a weekend series versus Webster University last weekend, who ranked first in the Perfect Game Preseason Division III Poll and No. 3 by the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.Â
Webster's Matt Mulhearn stymied the Knights' offense during the series opener last Saturday, Feb. 27, tallying 14 strikeouts en route to a 5-0 Webster victory. Mulhearn earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.Â
On Sunday, the Knights bounced back, led by a strong pitching performance of their own from
Darren Kilpatrick. The senior right-handed pitcher nearly tossed a complete game, allowing just two earned runs in 8.2 innings pitched. Wartburg's
Brett Kelting and
Parker Ridge both homered, helping lead to a 5-3 win. Kilpatrick was named the American Rivers Conference Pitcher of the Week.
