PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Wartburg men's soccer (2-4-2, 0-1 A-R-C) tied 1-1 with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Tuesday, Sept. 28 in a highly-competitive match.
In the first half, the Knights outshot the Pioneers six to five and led in shots on goal five to two. There were opportunities for scores on both sides, but neither team could convert.
The second half saw the first goal of the game when John Bochenczak scored from a header off a corner kick from Quincy Ott to make the score 1-0.
As the game winded down, the Knights drew a penalty in the 85
th minute and
Jack Palen converted his third penalty kick in two games to knot the game at one apiece.
The Wartburg defense was able to keep the game 1-1 to force a draw after two overtime periods. The Knights again played at a one-man disadvantage, due to an ejection from a second yellow card, from the 99
th minute on and continued to play tough.
Patrick McMahon started and played all 110 minutes in goal for the Orange & Black, allowing one goal and recording four saves.
Jack Palen scored his fifth goal of the season and fourth penalty goal.

The Knights are in action again on Saturday, Oct. 2 for Senior Day at Salzwedel Field against Coe College at 3:30 p.m.
