Last Time Out
The Knights were in action earlier this week on Monday, Mar. 21 when they swept a doubleheader against Martin Luther College.
The Orange & Black scored 15 runs in both games, which set a new season-high for runs in a game this season. At the plate, Wartburg hit hive doubles in both games and hit three home runs in game one.
Wartburg was led by
Zach Walton, who finished the doubleheader a perfect 7-7 from the plate with two home runs, nine RBI, and two walks drawn.
Dreyton LaVeine earned the win on the mound in game one after pitching five innings and recording six strikeouts.
Will Armstrong earned his second win on the bump this season in game two after four innings pitched and three strikeouts in the 15-0 win.
Season Leaders
Walton leads the Knights offense hitting a team-high .438 batting average and four home runs. His four home runs currently lead the A-R-C and his bating average ranks second among the conference. He also leads the Knights in RBI with 29 on the season and him and teammate
Zach Wesolowski are tied for most drawn walks with 15 each. Wesolowski has scored a team leading 24 runs and has batted in 16 runs through 17 games.
Eliot Jurgensen is batting .365 at the plate and has nine extra-base hits, including a team-high seven doubles.
Caleb Andrews and Jurgensen lead the team in hits with 23 apiece.
On the mound, three starters have two wins this season in
Dylan Gotto,
Joey Ciero, and LaVeine. Gotto leads all Knights pitchers in strikeouts with 34 through 23 innings pitched. Of starting pitchers, LaVeine has the lowest ERA at 1.80. In the sophomore's three starts he has 20 total innings pitched and 21 strikeouts for the Orange & Black.
Coe
The Kohawks enter the contest at 5-6 overall and this will be their first competition since playing at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida last week. Coe has a record of 3-4 during play in Florida but picked up a 7-4 win over no. 10 ranked Webster University. This series will open A-R-C play for both teams.
Wartburg is 3-7 in their last 10 games against the Kohawks and have lost the last seven.
Luther
Luther is currently 7-5 overall and will open A-R-C play this weekend against Loras College before Tuesday's doubleheader with Wartburg. In their last action, the Norse were swept by Aurora University on the road in a three-game series.
The Orange & Black have fell in their last eight games to the Norse and are 1-9 in their last 10 meetings.
