The Knights fell 7-3 on the road to Loras College on Monday, May 2 to close a sweep in the regular season series.
Caleb Andrews hit a solo shot to left field to lead off the top of the second to give the Knights a one run lead. Andrews' home run marked his second of the season. The Duhawks hit three singles in the bottom of the second inning to bring across one run to tie the game at one apiece.
Both teams singled in the third and the Knights were held hitless in the top of the fourth. Loras scored back-to-back runs in the bottom of the fourth after two ground outs. The third run of the inning came after a single and a throwing error to make the score 4-1 after four innings.
In the top of the fifth inning Wartburg recorded three hits but could not bring any runs across. Loras added to its lead after a two-run single in the bottom half made the score 6-1.
Max Goodhue tripled to lead off the sixth inning and Walton drove him home with a single the next at bat. A groundout from
Zach Wesolowski scored another run to cut the lead down to three.
The Duhawks added a run after a homer in the eighth to push the lead to 7-3. The Knights were unable to score in the ninth as Loras secured the win.
The Orange & Black had three athletes finish with a multi-hit game in
Keaton Gray, Goodhue and
Zach Walton. Goodhue tripled for the seventh time this season and second time this series.

Walton is batting a team-high .403 average and leads both the conference and team in RBI and OPS. Walton is currently on a 23-game reached base streak and with 33 walks drawn, he is six more away from breaking the single-season record for walks. The sophomore has hit 10 home runs this season, which ranks second in the A-R-C.
The conference leader in triples is Goodhue, who now leads by three triples over next best. The senior leads the team in total hits at 57, which is tied for second among all conference hitters. The outfielder is batting .390 this season and has the most multi-hit games on the team this season.
Ben DeKruyf is coming off a monster series at the plate for the Knights, where he hit four home runs and batted in nine runs through three games against Loras. The senior tied a school record with a three-homerun game in the second game of the series.
Dylan Gotto is the A-R-C leader in innings pitched with 68 innings thrown through 10 appearances. Gotto leads the Knights in strikeouts with 77, which ranks second in the conference. His six wins on the mound is tied for the A-R-C lead.
Darren Kilpatrick is 3-4 through 10 starts and is second on the team in innings pitched and strikeouts.
Aaron Eybers has made the most appearances with 17 this season and the senior leads the team with 3 saves this season.
Nebraska Wesleyan
The Prairie Wolves enter the final regular season series winners of five of their last seven contests. NWU is currently 18-18 overall and is tied with three other schools, including Wartburg, at 11-10 overall in conference play.
Nebraska Wesleyan has the conference homerun leader in Derek Kolbush, who has hit 12 home runs for 34 total RBI. Kolbush is one of three Prairie Wolves with 30+ RBI this season.
Caleb Knox leads NWU in batting average and RBI with marks of .384 and 37 respectively. The senior leads all hitters in the conference with 21 doubles this season.
