Meerbach resigns as women’s lacrosse head coach

WAVERLY, Iowa—Anna Meerbach has resigned as the Wartburg women's lacrosse head coach, as announced by John Cochrane, the Lowell J. Walker Chair of Athletics Directorship Endowed Chair and director of athletics.

Meerbach, the second coach in program history, has led the program for the past eight seasons (2016-23). She has coached 13 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) All-Conference players, and a two-time MWLC midfielder of the year (Bri Greiskalns). Greiskalns became the first All-Region selection in program history in 2021.

The 2017, 2018, and 2022 teams earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) academic honor squad awards and 14 players earned individual IWLCA academic honor roll honors in her tenure.

The 2017 team set the single record in wins and her 2022 squad was the first to qualify for the MWLC Tournament.

Meerbach is pursuing other employment opportunities outside of college athletics, and is relocating from the Waverly area.
