WAVERLY, Iowa— Wartburg College will no longer sponsor a women's lacrosse program, effective immediately.

Wartburg has sponsored women's lacrosse for nine seasons, with varsity competition beginning in 2015. The Knights qualified for the MWLC tournament for their first and only appearance in 2022.

Wartburg has received 16 all-conference selections, two conference MVPs, one all-region honoree, and 64 academic all-conference players in its history.

Independent of this decision, Head Coach Anna Meerbach announced her resignation earlier this week to pursue opportunities outside of athletics.

Wartburg will continue to sponsor 25 sports: 13 women's and 12 men's.
