Knights Sweep Houghton to Close Play in Florida

AUBURNDALE, Florida – Baseball defeated Houghton 7-6 in game one and completed the sweep with a 23-4 victory in game two. The Knights improved to 6-1 on the season.

    • Wartburg jumped on top early in the top half as Keaton Gray scored off an Eliot Jurgensen double
    • Lance Goeschel added an RBI single as Jurgensen scored to make it 2-0 Knights
    • With the bases loaded, Wiley Sullivan got hit by a pitch followed by back-to-back walks from Caleb Andrews and Gray to extend the lead to five
    • Jurgensen added two more RBIs on a single to put Wartburg up seven
    • Carter Stubitz drew a bases loaded walk to push another run across the plate to go up eight

    • Jack Bunkers with a bases clearing double brought in three runs for the Knights followed by a sac fly by Andrews to add another to make it 22-1
    • The Highlanders added two runs in the bottom half to make it 22-3

    • Houghton brought in one more run in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 16

    • Aiden Brown added one more run to the Knights total with a solo homerun to give Wartburg a 23-4 win
