DUBUQUE, Iowa – Baseball got its weekend series against the University of Dubuque started off with a 6-2 win over the Spartans on Friday, Mar. 29. The Knights snap a four-game losing streak and move to 10-6 overall and 1-3 in American Rivers Conference play.
Game Summary
First Inning
- The Knights got on the scoreboard in the top of the first after Eliot Jurgensen scored on a Zach Walton RBI double to left
- Walton came around to score on an RBI fielder's choice by Aidan Brown to go up 2-0
Second Inning
- Keaton Gray brought Noah Day in to score on an RBI triple down the right field line to extend the lead to three for the Knights
- Dubuque got a run back in the bottom half from a passed ball to cut the Knights lead back to two
Fourth Inning
- Carter Stubitz started off the top of the fourth with a hit by pitch and was brought in on a Wiley Sullivan RBI single to push the lead back to three
- Gray added another RBI with a single that scored Sullivan as the Knights go up 5-1
- The Spartans added another run from a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to three
Sixth Inning
- Caleb Andrews came around to score off a Jurgensen RBI single to left to extend the lead back to four
Ninth Inning
- Will Armstrong got a strikeout followed by a double play to beat the Spartans 6-2

Casey Klunder began his postgame thoughts speaking about today's gameplan facing a tough starting pitcher, "We knew coming into this game how good Dubuque's starter is and I feel like the guys did a great job executing the game plan at the plate today"
"Keaton has been on fire for us lately, he keeps getting better and better throughout his senior year" said Klunder about the Knights' senior leadoff hitter.
Klunder continued his postgame thoughts by complimenting his pitching staff, "Cael didn't have his A game today, but did what veterans do and found a way to grind out a win." "
Will Armstrong came in during a tough spot in the eighth inning and was nails for us."
Klunder finished by saying, "I'm proud of the guys because it felt like today the team was playing to win instead of playing to not lose."
