The No. 10-ranked Wartburg College football team (1-0 overall) hits the road for the first time in 2025, traveling to Menomonie, Wis., for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the University of Wisconsin-Stout on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Williams Stadium.
The Blue Devils opened their season with a 38-35 victory over Dubuque at home last weekend.

The Knights hold a perfect 3-0 advantage in the all-time series with UW-Stout, which began in 2014. Wartburg's lone trip to Williams Stadium came on Sept. 19, 2015, when the Orange and Black pulled out a 41-33 shootout win.

Wartburg's defense wasted little time setting the tone in 2025, ranking No. 4 nationally in third-down defense after holding Monmouth to just 1-of-12 conversions last week — the best mark in the A-R-C. The Knights also forced three interceptions, tied for No. 6 in Division III and tops in the conference. Senior linebacker
Keenan Tyler's 12 tackles place him No. 32 nationally and third in the league.
On the other side of the ball, the Knights collected 23 first downs in their opener, ranking third in the A-R-C. Quarterback
Leo Dodd went 15-for-22 (68.2%) through the air, good for second in the league, while averaging 8.14 yards per attempt. Running back
Dawson Rud leads the A-R-C after rushing for 109 yards.
ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS
UW-Stout made a statement in its opener, edging Dubuque, 38-35, behind a strong defensive effort and balanced offense. The Blue Devils snagged four interceptions, ranking third in Division III. Quarterback Adam Moen showed his dual-threat ability, throwing for 246 yards and a touchdown on 20-of-38 passing while adding 56 rushing yards and another score. Wideout Avron Carter hauled in eight receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown to pace the passing game. Defensively, Stout limited Dubuque to only 65 yards on the ground.

Head coach
Chris Winter owns an 18-5 career record in true road games. His most recent road defeat came on Sept. 14, 2024, at then-No. 12 Saint John's (35-13).
WINTER'S HEAVY FLURRY IN WINS
Winter has compiled a 44-7 record at the helm of Wartburg. He guided the Knights to a 10-2 mark last fall, including a perfect 8-0 run in A-R-C play to capture the league crown. Wartburg has now won 26 straight conference games.

The Knights enter 2025 seeking their 33rd consecutive winning campaign. The program has amassed an 88-18 record over the last nine years.

Junior running back
Dawson Rud powered Wartburg's ground game with 117 all-purpose yards (109 rushing, eight receiving) against Monmouth. It was his sixth career 100-yard rushing performance.

Leo Dodd showcased his versatility in the opener, throwing for 179 yards and two touchdowns while adding 64 yards on 12 carries. Both his passing and rushing totals marked new career highs.

Justis Bachman set new career marks with five receptions totaling 57 yards in the win over the Scots.
TACKLIN' TYLER IS EVERYWHERE

Keenan Tyler earned A-R-C Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading Wartburg with 12 tackles (seven solo), a sack, and a pass breakup against Monmouth. The Decorah, Iowa, native has now recorded six career double-digit tackle games, helping the Knights extend their winning streak over the Scots to six.
O'BOYE IS RIGHT
Junior linebacker
Jason O'Boye delivered a breakout game with a career-high nine tackles, including seven solo stops, and recorded his first career interception.
WARTBURG RANKED NO. 10 IN LATEST AFCA POLL
Despite a season-opening 21-7 win over Monmouth, Wartburg slipped one spot to No. 10 in this week's AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll. The Knights entered the season ranked No. 9 and have now appeared in the Top 25 for 34 consecutive weeks, extending a run that began on Sept. 19, 2022. Wartburg has also been slotted inside the preseason top 10 for three straight years.
