Wartburg Baseball Lands Seven All-Conference Honors; Jackson Named A-R-C Rookie of the Year

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Wartburg College baseball team earned seven American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) All-Conference selections, highlighted by freshman Tanner Jackson being named A-R-C Rookie of the Year - the first player in program history to receive the honor, the league announced Tuesday.

Emerson Albherhasky, Andrew Gallegos and Andrew Robinson each earned All-A-R-C Second Team recognition. Conner Funk, Griffin Troha, Charlie Krueger and Jackson received honorable mention nods.

Alberhasky (So., Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) broke the single-season program record in strikeouts with 105 so far this season. Alberhasky posts a 4-3 record heading into the Decatur Regional, with a 3.55 ERA through 76 innings on the bump. Alberhasky has drawn a team-best 13 starts with two complete games, allowing just 64 hits, 30 earned runs, 42 walks and limiting the opposing force to a .223 batting average. Alberhasky is a two-time A-R-C Pitcher of the Week and was named Male Athlete of the Week during the A-R-C Tournament. The sophomore ranks No. 5 in Division III with his strikeout total, and No. 17 in strikeouts per nine innings (12.43).

Gallegos (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central/Parkland CC) earned his first career All-conference nod with a .342/.619 average from the plate and a team-leading 10 home runs and 40 RBIs on the season. Gallegos has started 39 games this season and was named A-R-C Hitter of the Week and Male Athlete of the Week on March 16, after a stellar weekend against St. Olaf College. Gallegos has poked 53 hits, including nine doubles and two triples to a total team-high 96 total bases. In the field, the junior has recorded 316 putouts, 23 assists and has only committed three miscues at first base - .991 fielding percentage. Gallegos rides an 11-game hitting streak into regional play, as he has reached base safely in 15-straight appearances.

Robinson (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Cedar Rapids Prairie) set a single season program record with 28 hit-by-pitches this season to sit No. 11 in all of Div. III. Robinson went 12-for-25 with 11 singles and a double during Wartburg's A-R-C Tournament title run this past weekend, totaling a .321/409 average heading into regional play. Robinson is tied for a team-high 12 doubles and has an on-base percentage of .473 through 40 starts this season. At second base, Robinson has recorded 56 putouts, 84 assists, while only committing five errors - .966 fielding percentage. Robinson collects his first A-R-C All-conference nod as a senior. Robinson was named A-R-C Position Player of the Week on May 4.

Jackson (Fr., Waukee, Iowa/Waukee Northwest) took home Rookie of the Year honors after clubbing five home runs, 10 doubles and 30 RBI during his freshman campaign. Jackson posts a .287/.535 batting average heading into this weekend's regional. During Wartburg's sweep over Loras College on April 24 and 25, Jackson cranked two grand slams to total 10 of his 30 RBIs on the year. Jackson was named the Knights' first Rookie of the Year performer in program history.

From A-R-C: "Jackson is earning Rookie of the Year honors after an impressive freshman season for the Knights. Jackson batted .355 going 22-for-62 from the plate in 16 starts this conference season. He scored 14 runs and knocked four out of the park. He posted 25 RBIs and a .677 slugging percentage.
