Remembering Lee Bondhus

WAVERLY - Lee Bondhus, who guided the 1968 Wartburg College football team to an Iowa Conference championship, passed away Dec. 12 in Sioux Falls, S.D. He had been undergoing treatment for a recurrence of lung cancer.

The funeral is Saturday, Dec. 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, Minn. Visitation will be at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday , with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Bondhus coached 30 all-Iowa Conference players and three All-Americans at Wartburg from 1965-72. He was last on campus in September 2008 for a 1968 team reunion.
