ST. PETER, Minn.—The Wartburg College men’s soccer team fell 2-0 in its season opener to non-conference opponent, Gustavus Adolphus, Thursday afternoon.

Both goals were scored for the Gusties in the first half and both were scored by Gabe Steinborn. He netted his first goal at 13:29 as he headed a cross pass from Jackson Zoellner into the back of the net.

Steinborn scored his final goal of the day as he connected on a corner kick by Zoellner at 16:48.

Sophomore Cade Shatzer (Hudson), in his first career start in the net, made five saves on the day.

Junior Austin Otto (Coralville) registered the lone shot on goal for the Knights.

Wartburg returns to action Sunday against Concordia-Moorhead at 2 p.m. at the Waverly Soccer Complex.
