WAVERLY, Iowa—Four players finished in double-digits in Wartburg’s 72-58 win Monday night over Iowa Conference opponent, Cornell.
Junior Abi Weidemann (Iowa Falls) led the Knights with her career-high 18 points, senior Terri Dirks (Monticello) had a career-best 15, junior Maddie Sadecky (Iowa City) accounted for 11 and senior Leslie Wilson (Austin, Minn.) chipped in ten.
Wilson and Sadecky co-led the Orange and Black on the boards as each pulled down six rebounds.
With the win, Wartburg moves to 13-4 on the year and 6-2 in IIAC play.
The Rams opened the game on a 14-4 run over the first six minutes of the game. After pulling ahead by ten points with 12:08 left in the frame, the Knights answered with a 16-3 run over the next six minutes to take the three-point lead (22-19) with 5:34 remaining in the stanza.
The Orange and Black extended their margin to ten at the break (30-20).
Wartburg added to its lead in the second half as it was ahead by as many as 17 points.
The Knights’ defense held the Rams to a three-point field goal percentage of .250.
The Orange and Black return to action on the road against Simpson Saturday at 2 p.m.
