INDIANOLA, Iowa—The Wartburg women’s basketball team (13-5 overall, 6-3 IIAC) fell 70-58 to Iowa Conference opponent, Simpson (13-5, 6-3) Saturday afternoon. The Storm avoided the season sweep  as the Knights took the game earlier this season in Dec. 3, 71-54.

Senior Terri Dirks (Monticello) scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Orange and Black. Classmate Stephanie Reiter (Buckingham) joined her in double-digits with 11 points on the day.

The duo each recorded seven rebounds on the day

Simpson took the 29-19 lead at halftime and was ahead the entire game until Wartburg knotted the score at 50 on an 8-0 run with 6:58 remaining. The Storm answered with a 7-2 run over the next two minutes to regain the lead which it never relinquished.
 
The Knights return to action Wednesday when they host Buena Vista at 6 p.m.
