Knights travel to face Bethel for Sweet Sixteen

WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg football team (9-2 overall) will travel to face No. 6 Bethel College (11-0 overall) Saturday, Nov. 30, in a noon game at Royal Stadium in Arden Hills, Minn., during the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Knights blew away No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan last week, 41-7, at Tucci Stadium in Bloomington, Ill., during the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs, qualifying them for the Sweet Sixteen.

This year will be the Knights second time ever qualifying to the quarterfinals, the first being in 2008. Wartburg is 5-9 all-time in the NCAA postseason and this year is the Knights' 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the last being in 2010. This marks the seventh appearance in the postseason under head coach Rick Willis.

The Series:
Non-conference rival Bethel University of St. Paul defeated the Black and Orange in the second game of the season, 30-17, and defeated Wartburg in the first round of the playoffs in 2010. Last week, Bethel defeated St. Scholastica of Duluth, 70-13, in the Metrodome to advance to the quarterfinals.
