Wartburg Defeats Luther to Solidify No. 2 Seed for Conference Tournament

DECORAH, Iowa-- The Wartburg women's basketball team (15-9 overall, 8-5 IIAC) defeated Luther (13-12, 5-9) 70-63 Saturday.

Freshman Kailey Kladivo (Traer) led the Knights and recorded her first collegiate double-double with 15 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.

Senior Baileigh O'Brien (Fort Dodge) also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior Carly Jacobs (Greene) tallied 11 points and senior Abi Weidemann (Iowa Falls) recorded 10 on the day.

With the win, the Orange and Black solidified the No. 2 seed in the Conference Tournament which opens Tuesday.

Wartburg will host the winner between Dubuque and Luther on Thursday.

The Knights took the 32-30 lead into the locker rooms at halftime and pulled away down the stretch as they made their free throws.

The score changed hands eight times in the second frame alone.

The Orange and Black's defense held the Norse to a  .250 three-point field goal percentage on the game and held the team advantage in rebounds (49-40).
