WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg (7-7 overall, 1-2 IIAC) defeated Central (9-5, 1-2) 86-51 Wednesday night. The Knights shot a blistering 80% from the field in the first half.
Sophomores Kailey Kladivo (Traer) and Bobbi Burrows (Bondurant) each had 15 points on the night. Junior Alyssa Sager (Albert Lea, Minn.) joined them in double digits with 12 points. Classmate Holly Halstead (Hudson) had a team-best five rebounds.
The Knights led 44-32 at halftime and continued to hold their double-digit lead in the second frame.
The Orange and Black finished with a .630 field goal percentage, just shy of the .657 single-game school record. Wartburg also held the team advantage in assists (14-11), blocks (3-1) and steals (9-5).
The Knights return to the court Saturday when they host Coe at 2 p.m.
