DUBUQUE, Iowa-- Wartburg outscored Dubuque 36-28 in the second half and were within two points (61-59) with 12 seconds left. The Knights pulled down the offensive rebound with five seconds left but their last-second shot attempt rang out of the hoop.

This gave the Spartans the conference opening win.

Junior Alyssa Sager (Albert Lea, Minn.) and sophomore Kailey Kladivo (Traer) co-led the team with 11 points.

This marked the fourth time in the last five games Sager scored double figures and fourth-straight for Kladivo.

Sager also had a team-best eight rebounds.

The Orange and Black continue their two game road swing as they travel to face Luther Saturday at 2 p.m;
