Box ScoreWAVERLY, Iowa-- Juniors Bobbie Burrows (Bondurant) and Kailey Kladivo (Traer) led the team with 12 and 11 points, respectively in the championship game of Wartburg's annual Holiday Tournament.
The Knights (9-2 overall) fell 63-48 to the No. 5 Washington University in St. Louis who moved to 11-0.
The Bears took the slim 34-33 lead at halftime. Burrows scored all 12 of her points, including three treys, as the Orange and Black made eight three-point baskets, in this frame alone.
In the second half, the game remained close as WashU did not lead by double digits until there was 7:42 left to play as it built the lead to 15 on a 7-1 run over the duration of the game.
For their efforts over the two games, Burrows and Kladivo were named to the All-Tournament team.
Wartburg returns to the court Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. as it opens its Iowa Conference schedule against Luther.
