Wartburg Beats Bethany Lutheran, 87-64

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg moved to 5-1 on the season with its 87-64 win over Bethany Lutheran (3-5) Tuesday. Senior Kailey Kladivo (Traer) had a team-best 18 points, which included a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Sophomore Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) was the second-leading scorer for the Knights with 16 points. Kladivo, sophomore Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) and classmate Aryn Jones (Marion) all had six rebounds. Katie also had a career-best eight assists and senior Bobbie Burrows (Bondurant) and Kristie both recorded five in the game.

The Orange and Black led after every quarter, including 27-10 after the first.

Wartburg finished .923 from the free throw line, just shy of the single-game school mark of .950. Defensively, the Knights held the Vikings to .250 team field goal percentage from three-point range.

The Orange and Black return to the court Saturday when they travel to face Cornell at 1 p.m.
