WAVERLY, Iowa-- Buena Vista completed the season sweep over Wartburg, again by a very narrow margin, 59-55, Saturday. BV took the 28-24 lead into the locker rooms at halftime as it used a big 19-11 second quarter to pull ahead.

WARTBURG vs. BUENA VISTA HIGHLIGHTS


Senior Bobbie Burrows (Bondurant) hit a trey with 1:31 to go in the third quarter to make it a one-point game, 40-39. The Knights took their first lead of the second half on a layup by sophomore Aryn Jones (Marion), who then converted the three-point play as she made her and-one to give the Orange and Black the 47-44 lead with 7:09 remaining.

The lead changed hands three times in the next four minutes as Buena Vista regained the lead for good at 52-51 with 3:45 left. BV built its margin to six with six seconds left and
sophomore Miranda Murphy (Alleman) made a trey to slice the lead in half with three seconds to go. Wartburg immediately fouled to put Buena Vista on the line and it made their second free throw attempt to put the lead to four once again.

Burrows and Murphy co-led the team with 11 points each. As a team, the Knights held the advantage on the offensive glass, (17-10), blocks (3-1) and steals (13-6).

The Orange and Black take to the road next week as they will travel to face Simpson at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
