WAVERLY, Iowa-- Five players finished in double digits in No. 9/10 Wartburg's (5-0 overall, 1-0 IIAC) 79-57 win over Nebraska Wesleyan (3-2, 0-1).



Junior Katie Sommer (Marion) recorded a double-double with 15 points and tied her career best in rebounds (10). Classmates Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) and Kristie Sommer (Marion) and freshman Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) all had 11 while junior Aryn Jones (Marion) rounded out the leading scorers with 10. Gerdes was second on the boards with six on the night.

The game remained close through the first quarter and was tied at 28 all with 4:02 to go in the second. The Knights compiled a 15-2 run over that duration to take the 43-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Orange and Black continued to build their margin and led by as many as 33 points in the half.

Wartburg held the team advantages in every category and outrebounded the Prairie Wolves 47-26 which included 11-5 on the offensive end.

The Knights return to the court Saturday when they travel to face Simpson at 2 p.m.
