No. 8/8 Wartburg Opens Two-Game Road Swing

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 8/8 Wartburg women's basketball team (15-1 overall, 7-0 IIAC) opens a two-game road swing with Luther (9-5, 5-1) as the first opponent Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Series
The all-time series is now tied at 38-38. Each team won on their home court in the meetings last season.

Wartburg
Junior Miranda Murphy (Alleman) continues to lead the team with 14.4 PPG. Classmates Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) follows at 13.4 PPG and Aryn Jones (Marion) at 10.0. Sommer has a team-best 6.1 rebounds/game.

Katie currently ranks third-best on the program's all-time career leader list in assists with 291. She needs 16 to move into second. Katie is also ninth on the career leader list for three-point field goals made (105).

Twin sister Kristie Sommer currently ranks sixth in that category with 140 and needs 27 to move into fifth.

Junior Aryn Jones (Marion) has moved into sixth in blocks (65). She needs two to move into fifth.

Luther
Katie Waller and Anna Madrigal are the leading scorers for the Norse at 14.1 and 11.8 PPG, respectively. Sarah Holtz leads the team on the glass with 5.7 rebounds/contest.
