WAVERLY, Iowa-- Junior Morgan Neuendorf (Shell Rock) led all scorers with 16 points Saturday in No. 9/11 Wartburg (13-1 overall, 5-0 IIAC) 77-54 win over Dubuque (6-8, 2-3).

All five starters finished in double digits as juniors Miranda Murphy (Alleman) and Katie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) each had 15, classmate Aryn Jones (Marion) had 13 and juniro Kristie Sommer (Cedar Rapids) had 11.



Freshman Emma Gerdes (Cedar Falls) led the team with six rebounds.

The Spartans opened the game on a 14-7 run over the first six minutes, but the Orange and Black battled back with a 12-2 run over the rest of the quarter to take the 19-16 lead.

The score remained close in the second quarter as neither team led by more than nine points. A last-second layup by Dubuque sliced Wartburg's lead to three at the break.

In the second half, the Knights began to build their lead with a 13-2 run to start the frame to lead by 15 points and continued to lead by double digits for the duration.

The Orange and Black owned the team advantages in field goal percentage (.483 vs. .386) and free throw percentage (.842 vs. .625).

Wartburg takes to the road for its next game against Buena Vista Wednesday at 6 p.m.
