WAVERLY, Iowa - The top-ranked Wartburg College men's and women's track & field teams are set for its second indoor meet of the season this Friday, Jan. 29, hosting Loras College, the University of Northern Iowa, and Waldorf University during the 'Friday Night Lights' meet.
Field events will begin 4:30 p.m. and running events at 5:30 p.m., taking place at Hoover Fieldhouse.

KNIGHTS RANKED FIRST BY USTFCCCA
The men and women were both ranked first in the week one edition of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2021 Division IIII Indoor Track & Field national rankings, announced Tuesday, Jan. 26. The men received 266.75 points to sit atop the nation's Top 25 while the women earned 390.94.
FREIBURGER HONORED BY USTFCCCA
Wartburg senior distance runner Joe Freiburger earned the USTFCCCA Men's Division III National Athlete of the Week award Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Freiburger opened the 2021 indoor track season with a 14:32.34 first place time in the 5,000-meter run, a second shy of his personal best. The time would have ranked fifth on the NCAA Division III Descending Order List from the 2020 indoor season and ranks inside of the top five all-time at Wartburg.
The award stood as the first in Wartburg history an athlete has garnered the USTFCCCA weekly honor during the indoor season.
WARTBURG NOTES
- The Wartburg men have registered 14 marks that rank among the national top-10 this season, including multiples in the 60 (x2), 3000 (x2), 5000 (x3), 60H (x2) and triple jump (x2).
- Dallas Wright and Deyton Love lead the nation in the 60-meter hurdles sitting at 8.16 and 8.29, respectively.
- Alec Ille and Joe Freiburger lead the nation in the 3000 and 5000, respectively.
- The Wartburg women own 21 different national top-10 marks, including 12 that take up residence in the national top-5.
- Breya Christopher is the national leader in the high jump at 1.69m (5-6½)
- Alanna Muhammad (60), Taylan Olson (400), Aubrie Fisher (3000), Sailor Hinegardner (60H) and Daekota Knott (triple jump) are all ranked No. 2 in their respective events.
