STORM LAKE, Iowa - During the Wartburg men's and women's track & field teams' first indoor meet away from home in 2021, the Knights swept Buena Vista University and Simpson College on Saturday, Feb. 13 on the campus of Buena Vista.
The top-ranked Wartburg men compiled nine first place finishes, while the No. 2-ranked women totaled 13 top finishes in respective events as a team.
Men
Christopher Collet stood out for the men, setting the second-best indoor 3,000-meter run time at Wartburg, taking first place in 8:27.66. The Knights' distance runners also earned top-four finishes in the mile, led by
Ali Ali at 4:24.70.
Max Goodhue led the jumpers with a pair of top finishes in the long jump (21-10) and triple jump (42-7).
Deyton Love,
Randy Williams, and
Dallas Wright paced the Orange & Black sprinting crew. Love took first in the 60-meter dash at 7.15, Williams won the 200-meter dash at 23.14, and Wright the 400 at 49.43.
Women
The Knights' jumpers and throwers headlined Saturday's performance for the women.
Dani Johnson won the weight throw with a 53-4.5 toss, which stands as the sixth-best indoor weight throw in Wartburg history.
Breya Christopher and
Nicki Schneider also broke into the Wartburg top 10 lists. Christopher in the high jump (5-5), and Schneider in the pole vault (9-9).
Additionally, Wartburg placed the top three finishers in the 800-meter run, mile, high jump, and triple jump.
