DES MOINES, Iowa - The Wartburg track & field team took part in day two of the Drake Relays Friday morning at Drake Stadium, with its men's and women's 4x100-meter relay squads advancing to Saturday's finals.

Jackie Ganshirt, Taylan Olson, Alanna Muhammad, Mikala Sidney finished sixth during the first round of women's college 4x100m relays with a time of 47.84 to advance to tomorrow's finals. The group moves on to compete Saturday morning. 

The men's 4x100m relay crew of Dallas Wright, Riley Nolan, Randy Williams, Derrick Smith continued their strong outdoor season, finishing fourth with a time of 41.38 to advance to tomorrow's finals, which will take place after the women's finals. Their mark wasn't far behind their second-ranked DIII time of 41.15 set last weekend, April 16 at Augustana. 

Outside of the Knights' relay performances, Deyton Love also qualified for a final round tomorrow, crossing the 110-meter hurdle finish line in 15.21. Wright just missed the final qualifying mark at 15.61. 

Riley Nolan kicked off Wartburg's second day of competition at the blue oval with the javelin throw, finishing 6th of 12 participants with a personal best throw of 167 feet, 10 inches. 

In the women's javelin, Nicki Schneider took 12th with a throw of 100-2. 

Matt Heinzman and Frosty Lorimer raced in the 1,500-meter run, taking seventh and 22nd, respectively. Heinzman's time of 3:55.64 was a personal best.

Sailor Hinegardner finished just shy of qualifying for the 100-meter hurdle finals at 15.90, finishing 10th of 19 hurdlers. In the men's 100m hurdle prelims, Nolan, Williams, and Smith all finished outside of the finals qualifiers. 

Tomorrow, Wartburg opens its final day at the Drake Relays in the morning with the men's 3000-meter steeplechase.
