DUBUQUE, Iowa - Wartburg women's track and field tallied a total of 184 points and took second place at the American Rivers Conference Outdoor Championships at the University of Dubuque on Saturday, May 15. Sophomore
Aubrie Fisher headlined the event for the Knights when she captured three A-R-C titles.Â
Fisher recorded her second title during the 1,500-meter run when she placed first with a time of 4:49.75. The Ackley, Iowa native followed up that performance with a championship in the 5,000-meter run when she clocked in a time of 17:11.96, which was seven seconds faster than second place. The sophomore also won the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday, May 14.Â
Junior
Sailor Hinegardner captured an All-Conference selection when she placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.03.Â
Senior
Jackie Ganshirt record a time of 56.64 during the 400-meter dash, which is good for a top-five finish in Wartburg history. The Dubuque, Iowa native took third in the event and was named an All-Conference member. Ganshirt also record a third-place finish during the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.89, which is one of the fastest times in Wartburg history.Â
Junior
Carson McSorley earned an All-Conference spot in the 400-meter hurdles when she reached the podium in third place with a time of 1:02.78.
The 4x400-meter relay team of McSorley, Ganshirt,
Brenna Jacobs and
Taylan Olson finished in second place when they posted a time of 3:51.71 and all received All-Conference honors in the event.Â
During the field events, sophomore
Isabelle Albers came away with the women's pole vault title with a mark of 3.12 meters, which is a top-five result in Wartburg history. In the triple jump, freshman
Shaniah Johnson (11.26 meters) and sophomore
Breya Christopher (10.99 meters) each finished with a top-10 result in school history.Â
In addition to Fisher's first-place tally, the Knights swept the podium during the 5,000-meter run as senior
Carina Collet (17:18.73) took second and sophomore
Natalie Paulson (17:48.73) placed third. The Knights grabbed a lot of points in this event as junior
Trinity Borland placed fourth and junior
Anna Hertz finished in eighth. However, it was not enough to catch Loras College and the Duhawks came away with the team title.Â
Up next, the No. 11 Knights will travel to Greensboro, NC to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships held at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. The three-day event will begin on Thursday, May 27.Â
