Christopher Sets New School Record: Henkenius Open Recap

Collet and Mayer Set New Meet Records

WAVERLY, Iowa—Records fell as the Wartburg Track and Field teams opened the 2022 Indoor Season at the Chelsey M. Henkenius Open on Jan. 15.
 
Three meet records fell, along with one school record in the opening meet of the season.
 
Women's Recap
 
Breya Christopher reset her own school record in the high jump by one centimeter, soaring at 1.74m. Christopher's record was a new meet record in the event.
 
Riley Mayer raced to a new meet recorded in the 5K clocking in at 17:33.39.
 
Mikala Sidney took top honors in the women's 60-dash (8.05) and 200 race (26.99).  Carson McSorley was a second off the meet record in the 600, clocking in at 1:37.33.
 
Aubrie Fisher and Ellie Meyer led all racers in the 1K, with times of 3:02.85 and 3:07.50 respectively.
 
Moriah Morter took top honors in the 3K with a time of 10:40.12. The Orange & Black continued to take top honors in the final running events as Sailor Hinegarder (60 Hurdles, 9.51 seconds) and in the 4x400 relay (4:04.29).
 
The Orange & Black took top honors in the jumps, as Shaniah Johnson jumped 5.07m in the long jump. Belle Albers finished at 2.90m in the pole vault, while Daekota Knott made her debut for the Knights in triple jumps (11.04m).
 
Debuts continued for the Knights in throws as Lily Meester took top honors in the shot put (12.39m). Haley Beminio received the top spot in the weight throw, throwing 14.99m.
 
Men's Recap
 
Christopher Collet created a new meet record in the men's 3K, timing in at 8:25.80. Collet, who was 13-seconds ahead of the runner-up, reset the record by less than a second.
 
Riley Nolan jumped out to a fast start in the 60 dash, taking top honors in the prelims and finals (7.11 seconds).
 
Dallas Wright was nearly twenty-milliseconds ahead of the runner-up in the 60-hurdles, taking first place with a final time of 8.19.
 
Ian Neyens debuted for the Knights in the 200-meter race, securing first place at 23:01. Mohamed Temsah was milliseconds behind in the 600-meter race, clocking in at 1:27.00 for runner-up honors.
 
Distance events saw the Knights take top honors in the 1K, mile, 3K, and 5K. Frosty Lorimer and Wyatt Schmidt took the top two spots in the 1K, with times of 2:32.52 and 2:33.12. Noah Worthington clocked in at 4:40.6 in the mile, while Collin Day timed in at 15:10.07 in the 5K.

The debut for Carson Collet and Deyton Love in jumps saw the Knights take home top honors in all four events. Collet, competing in the pole vault, soared to 3.80m. Love jumped 6.97m in the long jump. Max Goodhue competed in the triple jump, with a best jump at 12.73m.
 
Mason Lobeck continued the debut for the Knights, taking top honors in the shot put (13.59m). Aizik Hodak landed in first place in the weight throw, with a final throw of 13.41.
 
Up next, the Knights will compete at the Mark Messersmith Invite at UNI on January 21.
