Track & Field Takes Second at A-R-C Championships

DUBUQUE, Iowa— Taking second place at the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) saw seven first place finishes from the Wartburg Track & Field squad.
 
Dallas Wright was voted Most Valuable Track Performer-Men. Wright took first place in the 60 hurdles, 200-meter, and 400-meter dash.
 
Breya Christopher took first place in the women's high jump, while Joe Freiburger claimed the top-spot in the 3K and 5K.
 
The Wartburg women's DMR took first place for the final top spot claimed by a Knight.
 
The women scored 188 points, just five points behind Loras who took top honors. The men scored 142 points for second place.
 
Saturday Results
 
  • Wright claimed the 60-meter Hurdles crown, timing in at 8.15. Wright's time broke his time of 8.21 yesterday, which broke the facility record. Deyton Love took runner-up honors in the race at 8.19.
  • Wright claimed the top spot in the men's 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. Wright ran a 21.62 in the 200-meter dash, breaking the conference record. Wright ran a 48.11 in the 400-meter to take the top spot.
  • Joe Freiburger picked up his second gold medal at the A-R-C Championships, resetting the conference record at 8:16.55.
  • Christopher defended her title in the high jump, resetting the conference meet record with a jump of 1.73m.  Christopher took second in the women's triple jump (11.38m).
  • Sailor Hinegardner took runner-up honors in the women's 60-hurdles at 9.17, while Aricka Lambson took third (9.36)
  • Aubrie Fisher took runner-up honors in the women's mile, clocking in at 4:59.14. Riley Mayer ran a 5:05.90 for third place in the event.
  • Fisher clocked in at 9:53.26 in the women's 3K, one of two athletes to break the facility record. Ellie Meyer finished in third place, timing in at 10:14.25.
  • Jackie Ganshirt took third place in the women's 200-meter dash at 25.85. Ganshirt clocked in at 57.82 in the women's 400-meter dash.
  • Christopher Collet clocked in at 4:13.81 for third place in the men's mile.
  • Riley Nolan took fourth in the men's 60-meter dash (7.00) while Sean Henson clocked in at 7.14.
  • Mikala Sidney took fourth in the women's 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.95.
  • Lily Campbell was one of three athletes to break the facility record in the women's 800, timing in at 2:16 for second place. Carson McSorley clocked in at 2:16.19 for third place.
  • The men's 4x400 relay  (Jensen Clapp, Zach Abbey, Ian Neyens, Love) took runner-up honors with a time of 3:31.87.
  • Taylan Olson, McSorley, Brenna Jacobs, and Ganshirt clocked in at 3:55.23 in the women's 4x400 relay.
  • Carter Cruise, Wyatt Schmidt, Matt Egts, and Dalton Martin took third in the 4x800 (7:52.68).
  • Erin Phelan, Annie Mast, Rachel Nagel, and Campbell clocked in at 9:35.24 in the women's 4x800 for second place.
  • Hailey Foxhoven took seventh in the women's pentathlon.
  • Dalton Closson took fourth in the heptathlon.
                                                                   
 
Friday Results
 
  • Freiburger defended his 2021 title in the men's 5K, racing around the track with a time of 14:49.18.
  • Wright was one of three preliminary times to break the facility record in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, taking the top time (8.21). Love qualified in the event with a time of 8.23.
  • Nolan and Henson qualified in the men's 60-meter dash. Nolan ran a 6.96, while Henson clocked in at 7.06.
  • Sidney qualified in the women's 60-meter dash, timing in at 7.88.
  • The Knights saw two qualifiers in the women 60-meter hurdles as Hinegardner (9.07) and Lambson (9.40) qualified.
  • In the women's 5K, the Knights went 2-3-4-5 led by Mayer (17:25.29). Natalie Paulson (17:57.54), Shaelyn Hostager (18:00.58), Anna Hertz (18:13.09), and Caroline Collet (18:30.99) finished in the top-8 for the Knights.
  • Love took runner-up honors in the men's long jump (6.94m) while Keegan Rich placed in the top-8 at 6.63m.
  • Morgan Shirley-Fairbairn (14:57.56), Sam Schmitz (15:01.78), and Connor Lancial (15:04.47) placed in the top-8 for the Knights in the men's 5K.
  • Daekota Knott (5.36m) and Shaniah Johnson (5.18m) placed inside the top-8 in the women's long jump. Belle Albers (2.86m) placed in the top-8 in the women's pole vault as Lily Meester landed at No. 6 in the shot put (12.94m).
  • The Knights Distance Medley Relay squad of Fisher, Nagel, Moriah Morter, and Meyer took first place with a time of 12:17.24.
