WAVERLY, Iowa— Wartburg Track & Field saw the women's program take home the top spot and the men finish in second at the Wartburg Indoor Select meet. The women finished with a score of 187, while the men had a final score of 139.
Dallas Wright broke the meet record in the 400-meter dash by over a second, running at 48.66 for first place. Wright's time in the 400-meter dash is currently second in the country.
The women's distance medley relay of
Riley Mayer,
Jackie Ganshirt,
Lily Campbell, and
Aubrie Fisher has the top time in the nation at 11:55.64. The men's distance medley relay of
Frosty Lorimer, Wright,
Wyatt Schmidt, and
Christopher Collet have the top time in the country by seven seconds at 9:59.21.
Women's Recap
Fisher led all runners in the women's 800-meter run, timing in at 2:17.71.
Anna Hertz was three seconds ahead of the runner-up, taking home top honors in the women's 3K (10:24.70).
Ganshirt led the Knights in the 400-meter dash, taking runner-up honors with a time of 57.24.
Caroline Collet and
Liz Ashing went 1-2 in the women's 5K. Collet timed in at 19:06.73, while Ashing finished at 20:06.02.
Moriah Morter finished six seconds behind first place in the women's mile, clocking in at 5:26.84.
The women's 4x400 relay (
Taylan Olson,
Rachel Nagel,
Annie Mast,
Macy Wilhelm) took second, timing in at 4:09.88.
Sailor Hinegardner took third in the women's 60-meter hurdles, timing in at 9.06. Olson (8.02) and
Mikala Sidney (8.03) landed in the top-5 of the women's 60-meter dash. Sidney finished in fifth place in the women's 200-meter dash, clocking in at 26.71.
Shaniah Johnson (11.10m) and
Daekota Knott (11.08m) went 1-2 in the women's triple jump.
Lily Meester finished inside the top-3 of the women's shot put at 13.18m.
Hailey Foxhoven took home fifth place in the women's pentathlon with 2502 points.
Belle Albers took home fourth place in the women's pole vault at 3.00m.
Emma Houdek grabbed a top-10 finish in the women's long jump (4.76m).
Grace McCartan (14.96m) and
Haley Beminio (14.95m) found top-10 spots in the women's weight throw.
Men's Recap
The Knights would go 1-2 in the distance races. In the men's 5K,
Liam Conroy led all runners with a time of 15:43.67 and
Andrew Ellison finished with a time of 15:44.92.
Sam Schmitz (4:26.25) and
Drew Hoffman (4:29.08) took the top spots in the men's mile.
In the men's 3K,
Jay Mixdorf led all runners with a time of 8:35.18.
The men's 4x400 relay (
Jensen Clapp,
Will Krapfl,
Ian Neyens,
Deyton Love) took second, timing in at 3:25.71.
Love took runner-up honors in the men's long jump (6.92m).
Kody Carlson (9.04), Krapfl (9.22), and
Lincoln Kleese (9.46) finished in the top-8 of the men's 60-hurdles.
Dalton Closson finished in fourth place in the men's heptathlon with 4400 points.
Mason Lobeck had a top-5 finish in the men's shot put at 14.21m.
Collet landed in the top-5 of the men's 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:56.20.
Riley Nolan clocked in at 22.92 in the men's 200-meter dash for fifth place.
Aizik Hodak had a top-10 finish in the men's weight throw at 15.00m.
National Rankings
On the national scene, the men are sitting at No. 5 and have shattered records in the early season. Wright broke the 200-meter dash record, timing in at 21.75 for the fastest time in the nation. Collet and
Joe Freiburger sit in the top-5 in the distance races while
Wyatt Schmidt and Love hold top-10 times in their events.
Following impressive performances in opening meets, the Knights women's squad jumped to the No. 6 spot nationally. Ganshirt (200-meters), Fisher (3K and 5K), and Mayer (5K) all sit in the top-10 in their races.
Breya Christopher leads the nation in high jump while the Knights 4x400 relay team has the second fastest time in the country.
