Wartburg Track & Field Places at 2022 National Indoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.— Finishing with a sixth place finish, the Wartburg women track and field squad concluded action at the 2022 NCAA Division III National Track and Field Championships.

The men's track and field squad placed 17th in the nation.

Taking runner-up honors in the women's high jump, Breya Christopher nearly matched her career-best at 1.73m (1.74m career), earning All-American Honors.

Christopher Collet earned All-American honors after placing third in the men's mile (4:07.06).

Deyton Love and Dallas Wright added All-American honors to their resume. Love paced himself to a fourth-place finish in the 60-Hurdles (8.06) while Wright clocked in at 9.27.

Jackie Ganshirt carved out a fourth-place finish in the women's 400 dash (57.10).

Aubrie Fisher grabbed a top-15 finish in the women's 3000-meter run, clocking in at 10:01.15.

In the men's 3000-meter run, the Knights saw Joe Freiburger and Collet compete. Freiburger timed in at 8:33.27, while Collet raced an 8:50.94 in the event.

Dalton Closson added 732 points for in the heptathlon, running an 8.80 in the 60-Hurdles. Closson ran a 2:59.72 in the 1000-meter run of the heptathlon, adding 667 points. In the pole vault, recording a 3.50m in the event (482 points). Closson finished with 4474 points in the event.
 
Friday Results

Ellie Meyer, Taylan Olson, Carson McSorley, Aubrie Fisher raced an 11:41.85 in the women's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) to claim the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Champions in the event. The squad garnered All-American status with their victory.

Adding All-American honors to his resume, Freiburger placed inside the top-8 of the men's 5000 with a time of 14:24.28.

Riley Mayer placed inside the top-10 in the women's 5000, racing a 17:11.76.

Lily Campbell competed in the women's 800, timing in at 2:14.90. Wyatt Schmidt raced a 1:54.39 in the men's 800 for a top-15 finish.

In relay action, the women's 4x400 Relay (Ganshirt, Brenna Jacobs, Rachel Nagel, Campbell) grabbed a top-10 finish at 3:53.93. The men's 4x400 relay squad (Zach Abbey, Love, Ian Neyens, Schmidt) found a top-10 finish at 3:21.35. The men's DMR secured a top-10 spot timing in at 10:10.47 (Matt Heinzman, Jensen Clapp, Sam Madson, Frosty Lorimer).
 
Closson has a top-15 spot after four events with 2531. Closson ran a 7.32 in the 60 dash (722 points), a 6.28m in the long jump (648 points), threw a 10.59m in the shot put (521 points), and recorded a 1.76 in the high jump (593).
