Last Time Out
The Knights were defeated 22-3 on the road on Saturday, Apr. 9 against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The Blugolds scored twice in the first minute of play in route to an eight goal first quarter. Alexie Romanelli and Riley Domagala recorded three points each in the first quarter with three goals and three assists respectively.
Britta Solheim put the Knights on the board late in the first with her ninth goal of the season.
The Orange & Black played their best quarter in the second after allowing just three goals. In the second period with a man-up advantage,
Lindsay Langford scored a goal in her seventh straight game after
Bri Greiskalns found her with the assist.
Wartburg trailed 11-2 heading into halftime.
The Knights were held scoreless in the third quarter and gave up five goals to make the score 16-2 after three periods of play.
Britta Solheim found the net again with just over a minute left to play to close a 22-3 loss on the road.
A Look at the Numbers
Greiskalns remains the conference leader in goals this season with 31 goals scored through 10 games. The fifth-year athlete ranks second in total points with 37 after picking up her sixth assist of the season last game. Greiskalns currently sits in the top five of the MWLC in groundballs, draw controls and caused turnovers.
Freshman goalkeeper
Alyson Hasner leads all MWLC keepers with 80 saves through just eight games played. Her save percentage of 39.1% is fourth best in the conference.
Ellie Johnson and Solheim both have 13 total points and are second and third in goals scored on the team with 13 and 10 goals respectively.
Augsburg
The Auggies has started the season 0-10 and opened up MWLC play on Friday, Apr. 1 against Cornell where they fell 16-7.
Augsburg is led by Maylynn Prokopec on offense, who has scored 24 of the team's 45 goals this season. The sophomore has recorded one of the team's three assists for a total of 25 points.
Emma Meythaler has the most time in goal for the Auggies with 435 minutes through nine games played. The first-year goalie is second in the conference in saves behind Hasner with 73 saves.
Lake Forest
The Foresters are currently 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Lake Forest has won two of its last three games, including a win in its inaugural MWLC game against the University of Northwestern (Minn.).
Lake Forest's offense is a balanced attack, with eight different athletes with at least 10 goals. Freshman Jenna Doctor leads the Foresters with team highs in goals (21), assists (9), and total points (30). Doctor's nine assists is tied for second best in the MWLC currently.
Calliope Saban has started all nine games in goal for Lake Forest and has recorded 66 saves. The freshman is allowing 10.44 goals per game and has a save percentage of 41.3%.
The Foresters will be in action on Saturday, Apr. 16 on the road against Cornell College before hosting the Knights on Monday, Apr. 18.
Series History
The Knights are looking for their first win over Augsburg in program history on Wednesday. The all-time series is currently six games to none in favor of the Auggies. The last matchup came last season where Augsburg won 20-12.
This will mark the first ever matchup between Lake Forest and Wartburg lacrosse. This is the Foresters first season in the MWLC.
