Last Time Out
The Orange & Black fell on the road to the University of Northwestern-St. Paul 5-4 on Saturday, Apr. 23.
Mallory Thys got on the scoreboard first for the Knights with her second goal of the season. After an NWU goal,
Beka Gershenoff made the score 2-1 after finding the net with just under five to play in the first period.
The Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 4-2 lead.
Britta Solheim stopped the run with a goal assisted by Gershenoff. The Knights trailed 4-3 heading into halftime.
Gershenoff scored her second goal of the game in the third quarter, which ended up being the only goal of the period to make the score 4-4 heading to the fourth.
Ava Whitcomb completed her hat trick with just under five minutes to play in the fourth to break the tie and give the Eagles a 5-4 lead. The Orange & Black were unable to convert late on scoring opportunities late and UNW held on for a 5-4 win.
Game Hair Havoc Fundraiser
Both Cornell and Wartburg lacrosse are styling their hair for the matchup in Waverly on Wednesday, Apr. 27 to raise money and awareness for families affected by cancer.

The top four teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the MWLC Tournament.
Season Leaders
Bri Greiskalns leads the conference in goals with 38 and ranks second in total points with 47. The fifth-year senior is the all-time leader in goals, assists, total points, draw controls, groundballs, and as of this season caused turnovers. She is currently seven caused turnovers from tying the single-season school record for caused turnovers that's held by Marissa Falco who had 41 in 2018.
Solheim has 20 total points for the Knights this season from 16 goals scored and four assists, both are second most on the team (Tied with
Ellie Johnson for goals at 16). Johnson has the second most caused turnovers and draw controls for the Knights with 13 and 44 respectively.
In the last three games, Gershenoff has scored all six of her goals this season including a hat trick against Augsburg.
Alyson Hasner has played in 11 games and started 10 in goal for the Orange & Black this season. The freshman has recorded an MWLC leading 113 saves throughout the season despite missing some time. Her save percentage of 43.4% is currently third in the conference.
Cornell
The Rams enter Wednesday's contest having lost their last three games and a conference record of 1-3.
Cornell is led by Nina Deer, who is the MWLC leader in points currently with 50. The senior attacker has scored the third most goals in the conference with 30 and leads the MWLC in assists at a mark of 20.
The Rams offense is rounded out by Anna Methe and Cece Zanoni who both have 30 points recorded. Sydney Swift and Raquel Gassmann also both have 20+ points recorded for Cornell.
Maddie Althoff has spent the most time in goal for the Rams as she has recorded 63 saves and a save percentage of 44.4% through 14 games played.
Hamline
The Pipers have won three in a row entering the week and are currently second in the conference standings with a 3-0 record in MWLC play. Hamline will travel to Lake Forest, Iowa on Friday, Apr. 29 for a matchup with the conference leaders before coming to Waverly on Saturday.
Hamline has a balanced offensive attack with four athletes scoring 10+ goals this season. Taryn Leonard leads the Pipers in both goals (21) and assists (8) for a total of 29 points. Leonard has 49 draw controls and 16 caused turnovers which both lead Hamline.
Justine Case has played in 10 games at goal for the Pipers and has recorded 71 saves.
Series History
Wednesday will be the seventh matchup between Cornell and Wartburg. The Knights lead the all-time series 4-2 but have lost two of the last three meetings.
The Orange & Black are currently winless against Hamline all-time with six previous meetings.
