LA CROSSE, Wis.—Distance runners showed their strength at the Ashton May Invitatioanl for the Wartburg Track & Field squad as 15 Knights landed in the top-15 in distance races this afternoon.
The Knights claimed top honors in the men's 3000-meter Steeplechase, men's 800-meter run, and the women's high jump.
The men took home sixth place out of ten teams, while the women placed seventh out of eleven squads.
Men's Recap
- Connor Lancial took home top honors in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, clocking in at 9:31.80.
- In the 800-meter run, Wyatt Schmidt took first with a time of 1:53.07, edging out the second-place finisher.
- Matt Egts took home second-place in the javelin throw at 51.48m.
- Matt Heinzman took fourth in the 800 (1:55.64) while Dalton Martin (1:59.08) and Jacob VanderWilt (1:59.32) finished inside the top-15.
- Jon Hutton took runner-up honors in the men's 5000-meter run, clocking in at 15:56.81. Andrew Poock (15:59.83), Gavin Roy (16:01.82), Robby Munoz (16:13.32), and Griffin Steiniger (16:17.69) all claimed spots inside the top-10.
- Liam Conroy (9:43.61) claimed a top-5 spot in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, while Michael Goodenbour (9:44.82) and Aiden Housman (9:45.08) found spots in the top-10.
- The Knights 4x400 relay squad (Martin, Schmidt, VanderWilt, and Carter Cruise) took home fifth-place, timing in at 3:27.16.
- Jack Kinzer claimed a top-20 spot in the 1500-meter run, timing in at 4:03.46.
- Trent Allard had a top-10 finish in the high jump at 1.90m. Keegan Rich competed in the long jump for the Orange & Black, taking home seventh w with a mark of 6.63m. Rich competed in the triple jump for the Knights, recording a mark of 13.17m.
- Mason Lobeck had a top-5 finish in the shot put with a throw of 14.25m. Graeson Trevino placed inside the top-15 (12.58m). In the discus throw, Aizik Hodak claimed fifth place (43.11m) to lead the Knights. Hodak competed in the hammer throw for the Knights (39.71m).
- Quinten Sommers placed inside the top-10 in the javelin (45.21m) while Rich claimed a top-15 spot (43.10m).
Women's Recap
- Breya Christopher led all competitors in the women's high jump, recoding a jump of 1.68m.
- Aubrie Fisher took home runner-up honors in the 1500-meter run, clocking in at 4:35.51.
- In the women's discus, Lily Meester finished in fourth-place (41.32m) to lead the Knights.
- Shainah Johnson finished in the top-5 in the long jump with a mark of 5.49m. Daekota Knott finished inside the top-8 (5.34m).
- Knott (11.68m) and Christopher (11.56m) led the Knights in the triple jump, finishing in the top-5.
- Ellie Meyer had a top-8 finish in the 1500-meter run, timing in at 4:45.39.
- Erin Phelan (2:21.25) and Lexi Brown (2:22.28) placed inside the top-8 for the Knights in the women's 800-meter run.
- Haley Beminio placed in the top-10 in the shot put at 12.11m.
- Talbot Kinney finished inside the top-10 in the discus at 37.68m.
- Emma True and Beminio led the Knights in the hammer throw, recording marks of 45.25m and 43.96m respectively.
- Knott led the Knights in the javelin throw with a mark of 28.63m.
- Liz Ashing led the Orange & Black in the 5000-meter run, racing a 20:07.70.
- The 4x400 relay squad of Meyer, Fisher, Phelan, and Brielle Ruch took home a top-10 finish, clocking in at 4:12.14.
National Rankings
The men's program jumped seven spots from last week (12) to sit at No. 5 this week.
On the women's side, the Knights raced five spots to sit at No. 3 in the national rankings.
