Nationally Ranked Track and Field Competes at NCAA Last Chance Qualifiers

ROCK ISLAND, Ill./La Crosse, Wis.—
With a week remaining until the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the nationally ranked Wartburg Knights Track and Field programs competed at the Augustana Midwest Twilight and UW-Lacrosse Final Qualifiers.
 
Connor Lancial and Jacob Green took home first place finishes in their events, while Dallas Wright, Dalton Martin, Sam Pinkowski, Matt Egts, and Carson McSorley grabbed second place finishes.
 
Men's Recap
  • Lancial took home top honors in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, running a 9:04.29 and a Top-10 time. 
  • Green led all racers in the men's 10,000, finishing with a time of 31:03.90.
  • Wright had the fastest time in the preliminary round and took runner-up honors in the finals of the 110-hurdles, clocking in at 14.37 (a Top-10 time). 
  • Martin took runner-up honors and Wyatt Schmidt took third in the 800-run, timing in at 1:50.18 and 1:50.71. Martin's time broke the school record, set in 2015 at 1:50.28. 
  • Pinkowski (14:55.95), Jay Mixdorf (14:59.99), Sam Schmitz (15:00.39), and Morgan Shirley-Fairbairn (15:22.03) placed inside the top-10 in the men's 5000-meter.
  • Deyton Love had a jump of 7.08m in the long jump, taking home fourth place and a Top-10 mark. 
  • Wright, Love, Sean Henson, and Riley Nolan combined for a time of 3:12.40 in the 4x400 relay, taking home fourth and a Top-10 time. 
  • Nolan finished inside the top-8 in the 200-dash with a time of 22.07.
  • Trent Allard finished in ninth place in the high jump, recording a mark of 1.88m.
  • In the 1500, Sam Madson finished in tenth place with a time of 3:58.76.
  • Will Krapfl had a top-15 finish in the 400-hurdles, running a 56.67.
Women's Recap
  • Sailor Hinegarder placed in seventh in the 100-hurdles finals with a time of 15.42. Hinegardner was joined in the preliminary round by Aricka Lambson (15.43) to qualify for the finals.
  • McSorley took second place in the 400-hurdles, clocking in at 1:02.33 and a Top-10 mark in Wartburg history. 
  • Moriah Morter finished inside the top-3 in the 3000-meter Steeplechase, clocking in at 11:10.10 and beat her personal best of 11:14.63. 
  • The 4x400 relay squad of McSorley, Rachel Nagel, Jackie Ganshirt, and Lambson took home third, timing in at 3:50.86.
  • Ganshirt clocked in at 25.06 in the 200-dash, taking fifth place overall.
  • In the 400-dash, Nagel led the Knights with a time of 59.34 and an eighth-place finish.
  • Natalie Paulson led the Knights women in the 5000, running an 18:01.51. Anna Hertz finished inside the top-5 (18:14.40) as Lexi Brown (18:24.52) and Addy Carlson (19:18.66) landed inside the top-10.
  • In the triple jump, Daekota Knott finished in sixth place with a jump of 11.60m. Knott's jump lands her inside the Top-10 in the Wartburg records. 
  • Jenna Morrey had a top-15 finish in the 1500, timing in at 4:55.45.
  • Brielle Ruch finished inside the top-20 in the 800 on the women's side, clocking in at 2:22.27.
UW-La Crosse Recap
  • Brenna Jacobs took home third in the women's javelin, recording a mark of 36.04.
  • Matt Egts took home second place in the men's javelin, recording a mark of 52.59m.
  • In the women's shot put, Kristen Reicks led the Knights with a throw of 12.00m to finish in ninth place.
  • Lily Meester placed in eighth in the women's discus with a throw of 41.70m.
  • In the women's hammer throw, Haley Beminio led the Knights with a mark of 45.89m for a Top-10 mark in Wartburg history. 
  • In the men's shot put, Mason Lobeck led the Knights with a throw of 14.31m.
  • Christian Nunley competed in the men's hammer throw, recording a mark of 44.97.
  • Aizik Hodah led the Knights in the discus, recording a mark of 42.42m.
