Records Break As Knights Track & Field Takes First at Luther Dual

DECORAH, Iowa—Taking first place in the Luther Dual, the Wartburg Track and Field squad grabbed the top spots on both the men's and women's side.

The women scored 116 points, while the men scored 118 points in the dual. The Knights men reset the stadium or meet record in three events. The Knights' Top-10 list saw two women jump into the Top-10 and saw seven marks from the men's side enter the Top-10.
 
Women's Recap
 
  • Mikala Sidney took home top honors in the 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.55 and 25.95.
  • Carson McSorley (400 hurdles) and Sailor Hinegardner (100 hurdles) took home the top spots. McSorley clocked in at 1:03.50 while Hinegardner timed in at 15.23.
  • Jackie Ganshirt (56.88) was nearly two second ahead of fellow Knight Taylan Olson (58.96) in the 400-meter dash as the Knights went 1-2.
  • Aubrie Fisher and Ellie Meyer led the Knights distance runners, starting in the 800-meter run. Fisher clocked in at 2:16.80 as Meyer timed in at 2:17.86.
  • Natalie Paulson led the Knights in the 1500-meter run, clocking in at 4:50.26, while Moriah Morter raced a 4:52.80 for a second-place finish.
  • Liz Ashing led the Knights women in the 3000-meter run, taking third with a time of 11:28.12.
  • The Knights 4x100 relay (Ganshirt, Olson, McSorley, Sidney) was a second faster, to claim first place with a time of 48.32. The Knights 4x400 relay (Rachel Nagel, McSorley, Fisher, Ganshirt) was ten seconds faster than the second-place team, timing in at 3:56.82.
  • In the field events, Daekota Knott took the top spots in the long jump at 5.20m and in the triple jump at 11.40m. Knott moved into the Knights' Top-10 list in the triple jump with her mark.  Continuing the Knights top positions in field events, Kristen Reicks took the top spot in the shot put (11.87m) as Lily Meester took the top spot in discus (41.09m). Emma True competed in the hammer throw for the Knights taking first place at 47.49m, climbing in the Knights' Top-10 list. Brooke Shafer took the top-spot in the javelin at 32.79m. Hailey Foxhoven took runner-up honors in the high jump, recording a mark of 1.45m.
 
Men's Recap
 
  • Riley Nolan claimed the top spot in the 200-meter dash, timing in at 21.84. Nolan took runner-up honors in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 10.85. Nolan's times see him enter the Top-10 list Wartburg.
  • Dallas Wright and Deyton Love went 1-2 in the 110 hurdles. Wright recorded a time of 14.81 (14.804) while Love clocked in at 14.81 (14.808). Both times enter the Knights Top-10 list.
  • Jensen Clapp led all competitors in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 48.89.
  • Dalton Martin and Wyatt Schmidt went 1-2 in the 800-meter run, as Martin ran a 1:52.53 and Schmidt clocked in at 1:52.95.
  • Christopher Collet led all racers in the 1500-meter run, timing in at 3:47.87. Frosty Lorimer claimed second-place with a time of 3:55.63. Collet's time set a new stadium record and meet record.
  • Jacob Green clocked in at 9:16.20 in the 3200-meter run, setting a new stadium record in the event.
  • Will Krapfl took runner-up honors in the 400 hurdles, timing in at 56.47.
  • Both relay squads took top honors. The 4x100 squad (Sean Henson, Love, Wright, Nolan) set a new meet record at 41.54 and jumped into the Knights' Top-10 list. The Knights squad of Wright, Schmidt, Mohamed Temsah, and Love clocked in at 3:20.67 in the 4x400 relay.
  • The Knights dominated in the field events as Trent Allard took the top spots in the high jump at 1.93m and triple jump at 12.15m. Carson Collet took runner-up honors in the pole vault at 3.70m. Keegan Rich grabbed the top spot in the long jump at 6.39m. Mason Lobeck recorded a mark of 14.55m in the shot put for the top spot, while Aizik Hodak grabbed the top spot in the discus throw (42.03m). In the javelin throw, Matt Egts recorded a mark of 51.24m for first place as Christian Nunley took first in the hammer throw (46.00m).
 
The Knights will return to action on May 12-14 in Dubuque, Iowa.
