WAVERLY, Iowa – No. 7/7 women's basketball was defeated in the Wartburg Holiday Tournament final against Washinton University (St. Louis) today on Saturday, Dec. 30. The Knights are now 11-2 overall and remain 4-0 in American Rivers Conference play.

- Sara Faber answered an early WashU basket with a basket of her own to make it 2-2 after one minute
- The Knights were held scoreless for over six minutes as Lauren Golinghorst stopped the Bears run with a layup
- Macy Harris provided a spark at the end of the quarter with back-to-back layups for the Knights to make it 13-8, WashU, at the end of the first
- Second Quarter
- The Knights first basket of the second quarter came from a three pointer from Jaedon Murphy to make it 17-11

- Britney Young made a three and then both Murphy and Grace Hennessy scored in the paint to make the score 46-25 with just over three minutes left in the third
- WashU went on another 6-0 run before Faber scored five straight points for the Knights to end the third 54-30, Bears in front
- Fourth Quarter
- Murphy went 1/2 from the free throw line to score the only point in the opening two minutes of the fourth
- Taylor Runchey and Harris both scored at the free throw line, but WashU remained in control halfway through the fourth
- Finley Fitzgerald, Hennessy and Ava Trettin all scored in the final minutes for the Knights
