WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's soccer closed the 2024 season with an overall record of 11-5-2 and an American Rivers Conference record of 6-2 under head coach
Mike Madigan in his eighth year. The Knights' season was highlighted by a second-straight A-R-C Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth.
After finishing second in the regular season standings, the Knights defeated Central College 1-0 in the semifinals before defeating Nebraska Wesleyan University at Salzwedel Field 1-0 for the A-R-C Tournament crown. The A-R-C title and NCAA Tournament berth marked back-to-back seasons for both. Wartburg went on the road for round one of the NCAA Tournament where the Knights fell to the host and reigning national champion St. Olaf College 3-1 in the first round.
The Knights had nine student athletes earn All-Conference and Honorable Mention honors in 2024:
Flori Gembo,
Lwings Kabula,
Carson Kay,
Sam McDevitt,
Aidan Mott and
Curtis Ratzer earned All-Conference honors. Wartburg's
Henry Eckert,
Alima Mmunga and
Andrew Valenzuela were all named All-Conference Honorable Mentions for the 2024 season. Ratzer (Third-team), McDevitt (Third-team) and
Aidan Mott (Fourth-team) were all named All-Region honorees by the United Soccer Coaches. Both McDevitt and Ratzer also were named Scholar All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
Landon Hartsell, McDevitt, Mott, Ratzer and Valenzuela all earned College Sports Communicator Academic All-District honors.
